Quantum Computing What is it All About?
What’s it all about?
China have invested billions whilst Google and IBM have been racing to obtain the secrets. But what’s it all about?
Quantum computing no longer associates itself with the standard binary computers and there is no competition between the supercomputer and the quantum computer. The abilities are unimaginable with encryption being non-existent; bypassing passwords in a matter of minutes rather than years. How does it do this?
Unlike a normal computer which operates in bits which are either on or off represented in 1 and 0, quantum computers achieve a state of superposition which uses qubits that are neither on or off but with the possibility of these outcomes. Difficult to comprehend? Think about a spinning coin which would eventually land on heads or tails but during the spinning state it can be in both simultaneously. This is not only extremely efficient and useful but it unlocks dreams which used to be unthinkable. Artificial Intelligence can expand to new levels, medicinal drugs would be easier to develop and our ability to understand molecules will dramatically improve.
Has anyone made one yet?
Not currently as of August 2020 however with billions of investment quantum computers may be ready in the near future.
When will you have it?
Not anytime soon as the practicality of this technology is very complex. Only a little interference and the state of superposition will not occur and don’t forget about the size of these. So these wont be in your hands anytime soon.
Furthermore, the pure power of this computer makes it incredibly easy for criminal purposes.
